Texas Passes Abortion Abolition Resolutions
“THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas calls upon the Texas legislature to repeal section 19.06 of the Texas Penal Code, which contradicts section 19.01 by permitting the murder of unborn children; and that the Republican Party of Texas calls upon the Texas legislature to ignore and refuse to enforce any and all federal statutes, regulations, executive orders, and court rulings which would deprive an unborn child of the right to life.”
So states the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Resolution, approved by the body at the Liberty County Republican Party convention on March 19, 2016.
The Texas Resolution calls for the US Congress to remove the federal judiciary’s hands from the issue of abortion, and a related resolution to that effect has been drafted, stating, in part, “THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas urges the congressional delegation from Texas to take immediate action, under the
authority extended to them in Article III of the Constitution of the United States, to put forth legislation remanding all authority over abortion to the individual States and removing all standing on the issue of abortion from the federal judiciary”.
