South Carolina: Matt Trewhella to Speak on Lesser Magistrate Doctrine at State Capitol
It’s time to restore marriage.
This coming January 27th, Rev. Matt Trewhella will speak to legislators, local opinion leaders and pastors in Room 110 of the Blatt Building on the SC Capitol Grounds. Matt is the author of the acclaimed book “THE DOCTRINE OF THE LESSER MAGISTRATES: A Proper Resistance to Tyranny and a Repudiation of Unlimited Obedience to Civil Government.” Visit lessermagistrate.com for more information, position papers, lectures, or to order the book.
The is a very important part of an effort to pass Rep. Bill Chumley’s bill (H.4513 to enact the “South Carolina Natural Marriage Defense Act”) to nullify the effects in SC of the Supreme Court of the US (SCOTUS) decision to overturn covenant marriage and sanction same sex marriage, also known as the Obergefell v. Hodges decision.
- 10:00am – 2:00pm: We will visit legislators office by office on this issue until the House goes into session
- 4:00pm- 4:30pm or at adjournment of the SC House: Rev. Trewhella addresses the House and local influencers on how the doctrine of the lesser magistrates can reverse the SCOTUS same-sex marriage decision in South Carolina
- 7:00pm-9:00pm: Rev. Trewhella will speak at the Wednesday night prayer meeting service at Columbia World Outreach Church, 523 Superior St, Columbia, SC 29205; Rev Mike Gonzalez, Senior Pastor. This will be Rev. Matt Trewhella’s final SC presentation.
Rev. Steve Williamson and other SC Baptist pastors convened a rally on Nov 9, 2015 in support of covenant marriage and in opposition to SCOTUS Obergefell v. Hodges decision. It was attended by 12,000 and is one of the largest such rallies ever held at SC Capitol. This rally shows there is strong popular support for the concepts in the Chumley bill (H. 4513), which is why we invited Rev. Trewhella to help carry the issue forward.
Please lend your strong prayers, support, and attendance to the events. Inform your friends, church members, and fellow pastors. Please help us by forwarding this ALERT to your own pastor, social media pages, and forward on your email.
