Tennessee Interposition: Sullivan County Resolution on Marriage
LesserMagistrate.com:Yet more true interposition in Tennessee.
In yet another brave move from Tennessee, Sullivan County has drafted a resolution which, much like SB1437 and HB1412, defies the Supreme Court opinion on homosex marriage. The resolution, quoting the Tennessee state constitution, declares marriage to be “The historical institution and legal contract solemnizing the relationship of one man and one woman shall be the only legally recognized marital contract in this state.”
Yet more pressure will be placed on the Governor and Attorney Genera (both Republicans) who have decided to hide behind the fiction that “the Supreme Court has ruled – all I can do is obey.”
This resolution provides every American with yet another opportunity to go to their legislators in their state and propose the same – either ask why isn’t this being done here or declare this must be done here.
